Under the Canopy

We had a surprise picnic and walk in the woods on the way home from Dad's today. We were stuck in a queue before Arundel for ages and then heard a traffic report of a serious accident which had closed the A27 in both directions between Crossbush and the A280. Stuart cleverly thought of diverting north instead of crawling down to the coast road, and we ended up buying sandwiches etc at Whiteways parking area, which also has lovely woodland around it. It was such a gorgeous day that we had to have a quick walk afterwards. We then went up the road to Pulborough, across to Storrington and down the A24, arriving home at 1.50pm. Thirty minutes later I had to go out for a hairdresser's appointment, so more unpacking still to do this evening!

I stayed at Dad's from Saturday and decided to stay on longer than the two days originally planned as I felt he needed the support. He has been eating well and building up his strength, and I felt it would be okay to come home today. I have sorted out new phones for him and programmed them, done the ironing, some window cleaning and some sorting of papers, as well as cooking the meals, of course. He is in much less pain now and managed to cook for himself fine today.

It's nice to be back to using the Internet again - have felt a bit cut off!
