The tree in the river

This is a weir in the River Ness, viewed from the canal towpath above. I believe there used to be a logging operation here, maybe someone can confirm this. I did a long walk (2 hours) today, had a pint in the pub, came out and tripped over a kerb. More damaged dignity than anything else!
