Flower Friday - Protea

As our climate is so similar to that of South Africa, it's no surprise that South African Flowers grow really well here.  Including the protea, as well as Waratahs, Banksias, Hakeas and Grevilleas which are the Australian branch of the family.

Waratahs don't grow in South Australia but Walking Wombat has them on her property; but I'm not jealous - much.

The Protea pictured is most likely a cultivar called Pink Ice - it's in a neighbour's garden, and we don't see them very often to ask.

Big is better by the way.
