Houses at Church Street, Wareham

The house to the right is early 18th century, with cob walls and thatched roof.  This is clearly a survivor of the Wareham fire of 1762: thatch was prohibited on the many replacement buildings, and more expensive materials had to be substituted.

The pair of cottages to the left are in 18th century style and probably postdate the fire.

The gravestones are in St Mary's church cemetery.
