Life through the lens...

Marvelous Maytime

Too beautiful a day to spend shopping, so off we went.
First to the asparagus farm, to pick up three bundles. All freshly picked this morning. It apparently is a very good year. Just the right amount of sun and rain.
Next stop a garden centre to try and find a particular petunia  I had last year. Called Banoffee Pie. They didn't have one, but a very kind lady overheard my conversation. and said that they had some at another nursery a mile away.
So off we went, and I bought the last one! ( will be blipped later!)
Then to Fairburn Ings, and a walk round the lake, an d down to the river.
That is where I took this photo. It just sums up the lovely sunshine, dappled shade, fresh green leaves, and the peace and quiet.
From the hide we saw Canada geese with their goslings, an oystercatcher and chick, great crested grebes with a little chick on her back, heron and assorted ducks and other birds.
Highlight, was back at the RSPB centre, warching a webcam, and seeing a little blue tit hatch out!
Lots of wild flowers everywhere. Butterflies, and managed a picture of a damsel fly. ( may be someone can tell me what it is?)
Nearly forgot, we saw a kingfisher catch a fish. No photos!
All these on my extra photos.
Had a nice lunch at the pub. Prawn salad for me and giant Yorkshire puds for MrC.
On the way home we had to stop at a level crossing. We joking said, "Wouldn't it be nice if a steam train passed by?" Guess what! One did!
No idea where it was going! Belching out loads of black smoke, and being pulled by a diesel.
Now off to cook the asparagus, and then after tea plant the petunias.
Shopping tomorrow!!
