Unsung goddess

Tonight saw the opening of our annual exhibition to launch Forth Valley Open Studios with an event in the Tolbooth, Stirling.

One of the highlights were these amazing hanging sculptural textile pieces by Gillian Cooper.

Unsung Muses investigates ancient goddess sculptures and how their meaning has been lost as our collective memory fades over the millennia.

Gillian uses cloth as a medium to reconnects with our communal past, explores the human shape, whilst searching for the defining elements of being human. Running alongside these thoughts is the idea of time passing; washing away the precision of memories with the waves of time.

After Stirling the pieces will go to France to take part in an international textile exhibition.
