Bank Holiday Monday

Jubilee third day, and a Bank Holiday, so no work at the Hospice Bookshop.

Today the sun shone, this is newsworthy for this time of year, and worth noting. The rest of the week is forecast rain.

Whilst Emma slept off her jet lag, we went out for morning coffee. Henley Street, and most of Stratford, was busy with locals enjoying a day off and tourists enjoying the spin off from the Jubilee, stalls, fun fair and a brass band playing on the Rec whilst people have picnics. Still not summer weather of course; most people are still wrapped in their fleeces and hats despite the sun.

Albany Road was preparing for a street party, and bunting was still out in abundance. Although by no means a Monarchist, I thought I ought to record some of this in the interests of history and photography, so I had the camera snapping.

I think this blip sums it up: kids having a good time, adults wrapped in their autumn coats and a few Union Flags to complement the wonderful decoration of this traditional carousal (incidentally, the flag in the middle is hung the wrong way round).
