FARMER IN GAZA

The Palestinian Union Of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) has many projects in Gaza that get support from Norwegian People's Aid and the Norwegian Trade Union.

Today we visited a previous settlement in Gaza and projects with tomato green house and this was one of the farmers.

50 perent of the population in Gaza is under 18 years and 1/3 live in poverty. 3/4 need food rations from the UN (UNRWA). The area which we visited today was destroyed by the settlers before they got withdrawn.

Still is 35 percent of the farm lands under Israeli control (so called buffer zones).

The 1,6 million people need all their land to produce their own food to feed their own people.
