Stop Press: Former President Mursi was sentenced to death today for his alleged part in a prison outbreak in 2011 when he was one of the escapees. Quite a change in fortunes to be in prison one year, then President almost the next, back inside a year later and heading for the gallows or execution squad now. He may receive further such sentences. There is still a process to go through before the sentence is confirmed or approved by the senior religious authority in the land.
