Doing it the hard way

Following a damp night the garden was full of slugs this morning. I find them repulsive but weirdly fascinating. It struck me as odd that he was going up and over the grass rather than pushing his way through at ground level.
Hopefully he wasn't heading towards my newly planted plants!
