Dun an Oir Castle

The ruined castle of Dun an Oir on Cape Clear stand on a very exposed promontory and is now only just accessible at a very low tide and even then it's pretty precarious and not for the faint hearted, luckily for me the tide wasn't low!! The castle or tower house is one of many of the O'Driscoll clans fortresses built along the coastline of West Cork. most date to the 13th century but this one is a little later. The castle is so exposed and must get pounded by the winter storms. More pictures on my extra photos if your interested.
From here I climbed through steep fields full of primroses and down to lake where little creatures nibble at your feet, later we tried it and it's true! I think people pay money for this experience at special clinics! It has been a great weekend, a bit of yoga, good company, beautiful walks, dramatic scenery, great food and the loveliest of accommodation.
