Leith Walk memorial

There are many of these poppies on the pavement on Leith Walk. I soon realised they are to commemorate the Quintinshill Rail Disaster.

A standing train full of troops and ammunition was rammed by a local train and then an Express because of the failings of a couple of rail signal men.

To this day the worst rail disaster in Britain.
