Loch Lomond

We set of today for another cycling trip - this time starting at Balloch on the south of Loch Lomond and intending to do a 35 mile round trip to Tarbert and back again. We got 0.4 miles when my pedal which had been playing up yesterday, started to come loose. End of trip.

So we spent some time at Lomond Shores shopping mall before driving round to Balmaha (where we met Scott) and we also spoke to a man who was training search and rescue dogs used by the emergency services. It was hard to believe that the guy receives no payment for all the specialised training and travel involved - his £1800 cost to travel from Essex could I'm sure have been covered by a couple of fireworks from the Jubilee event.

Further round the loch at Rowardennan, in the beautiful evening sunshine, we picked up a student hitchhiker who had underestimated his walking capabilities. The poor guy's legs were beginning to buckle and I've never seen anyone more grateful for the short lift that we gave him.
