Day at a Time

Poppy

This poppy looks delicate but don't be fooled. It's been hacked about, divided and transplanted many times over the years but despite this rough treatment it seems to settle in and flower abundantly wherever I put it. The various offspring from this parent plant are just coming into flower.

I wasn't (really) working today. A few emails this morning but most of the day has been spent attacking the weeds and showing them no mercy. I make my own compost which is something of a pleasure but I don't do it properly. I'm unsystematic about what goes in and it never gets hot enough to deal with the seeds. So - every spring a lovely fresh crop of weeds pops up. I don't learn my lesson.
