The Eildon Hills

We were up in the Borders for a funeral today. Although Jimmy was 92, I felt quite sad about his death as he was the last of my parents' friends.

On our way back we stopped at Scott's View. It was the favourite view of Sir Walter Scott, the novelist, and it is said that when they brought his funeral cortège past here, his horse stopped as it always had done.

It is also the place where Mr C proposed to me 48 years ago. Another couple were admiring the view and we spoke to each other. Mr C told them our story and the pt asked if it was our anniversary. He replied "Even worse, we're here for a funeral". I think he's going to have to do a fair a bit of grovelling before that one is forgotten.
