avenue

I took a familiar but long-forgotten trail across the fields, past the mine works, through meadows knee deep with grasses and the puff of dandelion clocks. Squeezing through the shepherds gap in the old dry stone wall I find the gatepost standing sentinel at the start of the street of hawthorn. Relics of times past when cart loads of ore passed this way.
