Lucerne

This morning we walked to the bus stop, a walk of 1.7 Kms, not too far I guess. It was a pleasant walk through farmland, mostly cows, though it was obviously milking time as the cows were mainly in the milking sheds. The bus stop was right next to a barn, and while we were waiting the cows came out, with the sound of their cow bells to alert us to the event.

We were expecting a yellow Postbus, instead the bus turned out to be a grey suburban bendy bus!. The journey was fairly quick as the bus turned on to the motorway and so reached the centre of Lucerne quickly.

In the morning we took a tour on one of the road trains. The seats were padded which made it a lot more comfortable than the road train we have in Lenno. In the afternoon we took a cruise on the lake. It was a three hour cruise which took us into the countryside. I am not entirely sure I have selected the right location on the map, though it was certainly one of the places the boat stopped. There was a round trip from the boat which involved leaving the boat and taking a funicular, cable car and bus to return to Lucerne, but we elected to return by boat.

In between these trips we found time to walk around the old town, over the famous bridge, and had dinner in Lucerne before returning to our hotel by taxi. The taxi cost CHF 47 which was less than we had feared.
