A Day of Memories

Warning, sentimental alert!!
After Becky moved to the States to work I sat for some time in her bedroom like you do, thinking about that little girl and the steps along the way to her becoming a fine young woman heading out in to the World.  Today the furniture project van arrived early doors and took away our old bed settee which has been in the study for many years and played its part in many a sleepover, teenage party and band rehearsal.  Hopefully it is going to another family which will appreciate it as much as us!  Then it was time to don the old clothes and make a start on redecorating Jenny's old bedroom, now that she has her own home with Pete and they are soon to be married.  The penguins have left the room already and today it was the turn of the glass beads to be removed from the ceiling and the luminous sheep from the walls.  Jenny, like Becky, stamped her own personality on her bedroom so there were lots more memories to enjoy.  Behind her door I found a piece of wallpaper which she had used to measure her height as she grew so that had to be removed very carefully!

It is the way of the World that our children grow up and move on to their own lives, hopefully dropping by from time to time!  Now we have a great summer to look forward to when we will all gather, with our extended families, for the wedding.  More memories to look forward to!
