Forth Bridge, Scotland, home

After a long drive today to take my mum home to the east coast of Scotland there was just time to pop out for a quick blip of one of my favourite landmarks in Scotland. Now living in central England I do miss the coast and the hills.

The Forth Bridge is a cantilever railway bridge over the Firth of Forth in the east of Scotland, 9 miles west of Edinburgh City Centre. It was opened on 4 March 1890 and spans a total length of 8,296 feet.
It is sometimes referred to as the Forth Rail Bridge to distinguish it from the Forth Road Bridge, though this has never been its official name.
The Forth Bridge could become a World Heritage Site when Unesco delegates meet in Germany at the end of June.
