Crossing the swing bridge.

To allow vessels to pass up and down the Caledonian Canal there are two swing bridges at Caol, Fort William, a road bridge and a rail bridge, leading to, or from, Neptune’s Staircase, a spectacular rise of eight locks on the canal.   Speed is reduced to a crawl as trains pass over the rail bridge and The Jacobite was no exception as it made its way towards Mallaig in this morning’s dull weather.

Many thanks indeed to all who dropped by and left lovely comments and stars for yesterday’s ‘Glenfinnan Viaduct’.  Your support is truly appreciated.

We're travelling in Scotland on holiday at the moment, making internet access, uploading, commenting etc. a bit problematic at times.  My apologies.
