Thinking outside of the box...

Had a nice day out exploring some of the villages.

We started with Leigh where we had lunch at the Plough Inn...a 15th century pub on the village green. Went for a little walk and chatted with the owner of the old school who made it his home almost 40 years ago. There is the old village pump on the green and this disused telephone box which has been converted into a history box, displaying the history of Leigh since the 11th century.

Drove into Brockham where there was Maypole dancing taking place...very busy!

Went for a bluebell walk ( past their best now) and ended up in Bertram Bees in Westcott for coffee and cake. What a fun and friendly place! The pub is owned by a couple but the male owner also has his 'man cave' outside. This turned out to be a bar with comfy chairs, bits of machinery and a huge tv ( I so want a man cave!!!). He told me that women were only allowed in there if they were wild and wilful! I look forward to my return visit ;)
