North Kessock Community Pier

What a great day. It was bright and sunny so we sat in the garden drinking our morning tea. We set off fairly early and stopped at Roskill, Munlochy to grab a few more shots of THE trees with the wonderful yellow of the rapeseed behind. A few lapwings were sky dancing above the fields.
After breakfast at the Old station in Strathpeffer we went for a walk in Blackmuir woods up to the touchstone maze. A lot of felling work is planned during May to clear the trees brought down in the Winter storms so some of the paths were restricted. There were plenty of birds and butterflies around including chiffchaffs , buzzards, red kites and orange tip butterflies. We saw one buzzard eating it's lunch in a tree.
We finished the day at North Kessock  with the opening of the ,now, Community owned North Pier. A good turn out and the lady pictured here was the last Gala Queen who sailed on the final ferry crossing in 1982, her sons played the pipes behind her a she walked down the pier to declare it open.
We watched several boats take part in a close race around the Firth. We had a free trip on the solar powered boat and saw the final stretch of the boat pull :)
