Tie Wire & Nips

Once the rebar has been sorted (a sort of jigsaw puzzle) it then has to be tied together so that it forms a firm frame when the concrete is poured. To do this, the tie wire is twisted around where the bars cross and then twisted tight and cut off using the nips. The weather has been pretty foul and so the student in the background is fully kitted out in wet weather gear. They are also wearing concreting gloves - not entirely certain why at this stage!
