A moment in time

The family

Went walking on the route of the Antonine Wall today, six miles up Croy Hill and Bar Hill and then back along the Forth and Clyde Canal to Auchinstarry.

The Antonine Wall was a ditch and turf wall with forts along its length, made by the Romans about 140ad, not much left, but the ditches can be clearly seen and on Bar Hill the foundations of a fort have been excavated and are under the care of Historic Scotland. Very steep ascent of Bar Hill to the trig point, a very enjoyable walk. Saw this family on the way back along the canal and thought it would be good for a blip.

Beautiful weather today, we were able to walk without outer gear, which is always nice. Forecast for the rest of the week is not good, so glad we were able to take advantage today.
