Beacon

We joined in the jubilee fun by braving the unseasonal cold at Bussage, near Stroud, to watch a beacon being lit.

It was a rather low-key event. I half-expected a bit of a speech and a rousing God Save the Queen, but it wasn't quite like that - although there was a decent turnout.

I was interested to spot a police car discretely parked in the dark a hundred yards or so away. Not sure what they were expecting - maybe they just wanted to enjoy the occasion, too.
