Little Barrier

That is the name of the distant island seen over and beyond the Tawharanui Peninsula which is one "edge" of Kawau Bay, across which the early morning sun is casting a swathe of light. The overnight rain had ceased long enough for me to get this photo from the deck of the beach house.

I delayed my daily run/walk until the sun was out and the tide was right, and headed down to the Southend of Snells Beach. I will add a couple of the photos I got as extras:
kotare (kingfisher)
taranui (Caspian Tern)
poaka (pied stilt) and Kawaupaka (Little pied shag)
