The Mirror of Nature

Writing down what you did today seems so easy. First: “as I woke up the sky was all clear and deep blue”. That sounds good, you are going to have a fine Sunday there. Over here the weather started rather nasty, a reader reacts. Simple enough, by the way, nobody will or can verify the truth of this opening line. In fact you could make your journal up, while spending your day in bed, drinking this or that.

Now it will be clear for any attentive reader of this journal, that I am not a lousy wino, who will refuse to stand up. Especially when he sees the blue sky through the curtains. Maybe, there was this hesitation, this slight lazy reluctance, during the minutes before getting out. But then clearly and definitely, the day had started. Already we were underway to the Zandmotor and our seaside walk in the morningsun. Far from the crowds already occupying their beaches.

Well, of course you knew already: this was our first beautiful day at sea here. Our seaside walk was really liberating and refreshing. And we returned to welcome Mischa for coffeebreak. Chatting on the balcony during lunch. And after that we choose to visit the Blue-Bells-Bushes in a Park nearby. Very green and blue. Wandering over the meandering footways, deliciously shadowy.

You see, I don’t write what we did, but I paint in words what we experienced. Less simple, but more appealing, I hope. So, what remains of the day might be some image, a painterly memory. And you know? As I look outside now into the evening, the pavement is wet with drizzle. I wish you goodnight. I’m going to listen music and perhaps read a few lines.
