The Slipway.

This is the public slipway for launching small boats, in Water Street, Chesterton. Before the Green Dragon bridge was built across the river Cam in 1935, the slipway was used by the Horse Grind Ferry. This ferry was unusual in that it was pulled across the river by a horse, instead of being hand cranked across on a chain. Not much of a life for horses in those days what with pulling horse drawn carriages, coal carts etc.
