one of the encaustic pieces I've been working on. 
If you're unfamiliar with the process it was first practiced in the first to third centuries. Today's encaustic paints are made up of beeswax, damar resin, and pigments. 
Familiar artists who have worked in this medium are Jasper Johns and Diego Rivera.
