A post-birthday trip up into the Lakes today. We would have avoided Ambleside if we could, but along with hordes of others, that just wasn't possible. We got through to the other side eventually and parked up at Rydal Hall for a wander through the gardens and up into the woods. Shots of waterfalls and wild garlic flowers were attempted but not satisfactorily enough to be blipped. Instead, all around the gardens and into the woodlands were these felted 'sculptures'. I liked the contrast of the textiles and the stone wall; Bailey thought they were like his ball on a string.

We came home via a few stops, including lunch at the Watermill and a pint of CollyWobbles and Bailey trying to make the acquaintance of various other customers. And then the farm shop & the garden centre. No purchases made but Bailey had his first encounter with chickens - he wasn't so sure apparently. A busy day all told and backed by blue skies and sunshine - which was far from forecast. We're hoping it will last...
