Reflections on the Lily Pond

I have never seen the lily pond looking more lovely than it has in the past week or so. First came the big round purple allium flowers. And now there are blue-purple irises blooming along the edge. All of the changing colors around the lily pond provide great opportunities for reflections among the water lilies. And soon will come the dragons and damsels to grace these waters: further jewels to embellish the lilies of the pond.

It was a great day for reflection shots and I took an embarrassing number of photos. Since I couldn't decide among them, I'm providing two of the lily pond shots: one as my main photo, and one as an extra, lower right.

And of course when I told the Dancing Girls about the boats in the children's garden, they insisted on coming along to see for themselves! And so an additional extra photo is provided of the Childhood's Gate reflection scene from last week, this time, with an extra hint of whimsy: two Dancing Girls on a boat! They have just trimmed the sail and checked their course, and they are about to set sail into the sun . . .

The common theme for all three photos is water, glorious water. It is one of the most amazing things in the world, and we so often take it for granted. Here's three cheers for water! So the song to accompany these three images is Dire Straits, with Water of Love.
