JEEP SAFARI...

...to the Toodos Mountains today. We were picked up from our hotel at 7:30 this morning and taken into the heart of the Troodos Mountains in a Landrover Defender. We visited a tiny chapel before our second stop at Lefkara to admire the lace made famous by Leanardo Da'vinci. Next stop, Kalamaras for some lovely beef tomatoes served with a delicious dressing washed down with a Cyprus coffee, now that is an acquired taste. George Michael, our driver for the day, skilfully negotiated the rough terain and took us to the Cyprus Asbestos Mine which is situated right in the heart of Troodos forest. This mining work has left a scar on the landscape but fortunately, a big restoration programme is underway to put things right. A short drive followed to Pano Platres for a delicious traditional lunch washed down with red wine, well, I wasn't driving! Our next stop was this lovely waterfall. We had to do a bit of scrambling to get a decent viewpoint but, as you can see, it was worth it. I think we might do some sunbathing tomorrow!
