A promising start to the day

Today we were walking stages 2 and 3 of the Exe Valley Way.  We arrived at Exmouth and took the scenic route along the seafront to the station en route to Exeter where the walk started.  This shot shows the view across the sea to Dawlish Warren.  I couldn't resist the crown like shape of the cirrus clouds.

The walk quickly took us outside central Exeter and along small roads, through several farms including one with squealing pigs, down a small alleyway full of tall nettles, across a field of wheat and around a barley field,  We were following the route of the River Exe towards its source and we did enjoy the stretches of the walk alongside it with swans and their cygnets out enjoying the water.

I think overall we walked around 12 miles including the stretches to and from the walk.  A satisfying walk, now to rest my feet.
