St Cross, Winchester

The Hospital of St Cross is the oldest almshouse in the country, being founded in 1312. The 'chapel' is like a mini Cathedral in the fields, and a quiet oasis. Rather wonderfully any visitor will be supplied with bread and beer. The Master's garden was immaculate.
