Altnaharra Hotel

Altnaharra is a small hamlet in Sutherland.
The name Is derived from the Scottish Gaelic- Alt na h-either, meaning stream at the boundary wall.
We have all heard on the news about the weather here: temperature in December1995 of minus 27.2C and minus 22.3 C in January 2011 brrrrrrrr!
And one day last week the temperature was hottest in Scotland of 29C
The Hotel here is lovely, traditional Scottish Baronial and has a "hunting shooting fishing" reputation.

Durness is about 30 miles north
