The Big Cruise Day 18: Grindley Brook

The very name, "Grindley Brook" can conjure up some vivid images in the minds of any boater who has been there. It is quite simply 3 ordinary locks followed very closely by a staircase of three locks. But it can be a real bottleneck on this Canal (another of the many interesting challenges along here - there are more to come). There are stories of queueing up to 6 hours in the height of Summer.

But a couple of friendly lock keepers make it all as efficient as possible. Here, one of them is helping our friend Audrey with the paddles. Pete is following us in the lock below, waiting for the water level to rise.

[Explanation: Big Cruise Blips begin on 9th April (where there's an introduction) and last nearly 8 weeks with a break in the middle. I am catching up with the back-blipping]
