Painting

Having looked at this again and again, I think it works quite well (it's totally accidental, I should say).

The real-life stuff is interesting. There's a lot of mundane action which is clear - people striding away or to the left, one man pointing at something - and the difference between the workers and people in shorts is nice.

Then there's the painting, which interestingly removes the bins and the people to make the scene more attractive and tranquil. The painter, who I'm regretting (not for the first time) not speaking to, has removed some features and reduced the detail of the pavement, while making the the Town Hall wider and more dominant - not that it isn't fairly dominant in the photo.
