Chopped moth!

This is a great microscope image of the disected genitalia of one of the micro-moths I caught in my light trap last year. The only way some of the 'micros' can be accurately identified is through detailed investigation of the genitalia. So a specimen is kept and sent to my good friend, Peter Hall, who expertly carries out the delicate procedure. He normally sends me back a list, but this time I got some images as well. This one was a male Carnation Tortrix.
