No cuckoo

I took a walk deep into the Common this morning because I wanted to hear the cuckoo. My dog walking friends say they hear it frequently. It used to be a common sound from our home but not for a few years. And I didn't hear it this morning either! Maybe I am too late in the year? Maybe I should go early in the morning? But it was a pleasant walk, with plenty of other birds singing loudly and wild flowers to see, including my favourite cow parsley.
