Dry stane dykes

There are walls all around and through this village. Most of them were built after the clearance, in the days when the 'village' was turned into a farm, but others were created when the crofts were created and the village was re-settled in 1923. I remember my wife's grandmother describing how she used to clear the fields of boulders and add them to the dry stane walls on her croft.Not for the fait-hearted!
