Skidby Mill

We visited Skidby Mill and watched the Miller at work.  It was wonderful to hear the grinding and the rotating cogs, see the sails pass the windows as we looked outside over the countryside from the top, and smell the floury and hessian smells. It was originally built in 1821 and has been restored, and is now part of the Museum of East Riding Rural Life.  It is the last working Mill in Yorkshire and I bought a bag of flour.  I will be baking this traditional wholegrain flour in my non-traditional bread maker.
