Red Rhododendrons

We drove to Newburyport MA at midday today, through torrential rains as we neared the coast.  Our destination was the Joppa Flats Visitor Center, to take down the exhibition of my Galapagos photos which had hung for the last six weeks. The wind and rain persisted as we schlepped the prints out to the car--not pleasant :)

Rhododendrons are common in the area--but nearly all are the common light purple color.  These red blossoms were exceptional, set off by the standard local hydrant with its red clashing with the lovely flowers.
