PUKEKO (SWAMP HEN)

Here's a shot of ''Porphyrio porphyrio' or Pukeko commonly called a Swamp hen. Always fighting and a reluctant flyer with its long legs hanging down when it does. Lays 4-8 eggs in season which is Aug-March. They flick their tails showing off the underside (which is a large white area) when trying to impress another bird or person they own the territory.  This one was making the most of the afternoon sun.
Someone asked me to show progress on the swans and cygnets I put up a few days ago so I've put up an extra of them today ( see Extra) they look very healthy.
lovely day for bird watching today. - I think we are in for a storm later in the week.
