A Meandering Life...

Mono Monday :: Sharp :: mm70

This is the sharp end of two ships.

The nearest is HMS Belfast, the largest British cruiser of WW2 which saw action in the North Atlantic and took part in the D-Day Landings. It was also involved in the Korean War before being retired in 1963.

 A mine did knock it out of service for 3 years during WW2. You could say it has seen plenty of action at the sharp end...

Since 1971 it has been moored on the Thames under the shadow of Tower Bridge. It is part of the Imperial War Museum and the public can go on board to turn back time. My visit is such a distant memory it must have been when it first opened.

Sometimes visiting cruisers moor alongside whilst visiting London. Today I found the German cruise liner 'Berlin' alongside. I find that quite ironic.
