Essential maintenance

This massive tree was struck by lightening on Friday 13th June last year. Although there is some growth on it, it is obviously poorly and dangerous. I went to speak to the tree fellers ( I cant help but say that with an Irish accent - it makes me giggle every time!) and they said that they were going to give it a severe pruning in the hope of saving it for the future. I cant be sure but I would guess it is about 110 yrs old as that was when the park was landscaped and it would fit in with the original planting plan.
I hope they are successful.
