A concrete love affair

Peak time or postpeakcartastic?

Leicester's Southgates Underpass. The retaining walls of this southern portal are flanked by a 1930's pub on the left, and 00's student flats on the right. In the distance you can see the 14th century Magazine, which was marooned by two carriageways of this inner ring road for 40 years. DMU reunited it with at-grade pedestrian traffic in 2007. A blight on Leicester this 1960's road junction, as I've blipped before, devastated the city's historic street layout with roman heritage destroyed to make way for a gyratorory encircling a holiday inn.
