Vanini Osvaldo

Tomorrow is a public holiday for the Festival of the Republic, so the market came to Lenno a day early this week. Not all the usual stalls were there and the market seemed a little less busy than usual. As ever we found something to purchase, this time it was clips to hold down the tablecloth for the table on the terrace for the occasions when it is a bit windy, as it was one day last week.

Despite Lenno being such a small village there are several companies based here. One of the more historic is Vanini Osvaldo which produces olive oil. The photograph shows the entrance to their factory which is about 1km away from the apartment. They have been producing olive oil from their factory in Lenno since around 1850. It can occasionally be seen on sale in the UK, and I believe Jamie Oliver is amounts the chefs who rate it highly.
