Singing socialism

This flier forms part of an exhibit in the fascinating People 's Museum in Manchester, in the section dealing with the rise of the Trade Union movement.

I especially liked this because of the stated as of the choir - and because it met on the same evening and at almost the same time as our choir. For most of my life I've been aware of the beneficial effects of singing in a group, and I loved the idea that this togetherness was seen as a plank of socialism.

I learned a good deal of context today - to say nothing of chronology. I also had it underlined how unjust our society has been in the recent past. We've come a long way - but we still have a journey ahead of us.
