Verges alive

We couldn’t resist the roadside wild flowers today. There are swathes of them on the roadside verges around us and provide a welcome beginning to the month.
The oxeye daisy thrives on roadside verges and waste ground and around here you cannot travel more than a few yards without seeing them in all their glory.
You’ll find them in traditional meadows and along any hedgerow where wildflowers are encouraged.
They can turn a roadside verge completely white from above at this time of year and continue flowering through to September.
It’s easy to recognise because of its daisy-like flower head on single tall stems.

It wasn’t exactly a bouquet, but I couldn’t resist picking a few while I was out today, and wildflower or not, did provide a few flowers to set off for our meal table for this evening.
