Out the front . . .

As is so often the case, the evening was the best part of the day today.

So many birds in the bay at the moment. The shore line is dotted with knot and red shanks, oystercatchers, plovers and turnstones.  Terns, swallows and gannets swoop and dive for fish out on the water, and the eider ducks are busy calling to each other as float along in great rafts.  They make an "ooh ah" Frankie Howerd noise, always makes you smile!

Black back gulls, Arctic and Great Skuas (bonxies) are always on the hunt for anything small or weak, especially eider chicks, but I spotted them devouring a lump sucker fish at the water's edge the other day . . . .
